Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had one hell of an evening at the American Music Awards. They performed “Can’t Hold Us” with Ray Dalton via a live feed from their show in Miami, which you can view a video of here. The duo also took home the award for best rap/hip-hop album and took the opportunity to get political in their speech, speaking out against racial profiling. Macklemore said, “Due to the fact that we are in Florida tonight accepting this award, I want to acknowledge Trayvon Martin and the hundreds and hundreds of kids who are dying each year due to racial profiling and the violence that follows. These are our friends, our neighbors, our peers, our fans, and it’s time that we look out for the youth and fight against racism and the laws that protect it.” You can catch Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with Big K.R.I.T. and Talib Kweli this week in Houston, Austin and Dallas.
