Mick Jenkins Releases Two New Tracks

Sip

Mick Jenkins has been releasing music pretty steadily over the past couple of years, and no one is complaining. These latest two tracks, “$3,000 Advice” and “Grenade Theory” are both produced by THEMpeople and both feature vocals from theMIND. “$3,000 Advice” continues with the vibes we felt on Mick’s last EP Wave[s] and “Grenade Theory” brings up the violence in his hometown of Chicago. As Mick put it, “This aint no project. It’s just a sip… two songs. That’s it. Enjoy.” Stream the two new tracks below.

Mick Jenkins – Your Love [Video]

MJYourLove

Mick Jenkins is on a break between his US tour (that included dates with us in Austin, Houston, and Dallas) and his European tour, so he found some time to release a new video. “Your Love,” off his latest mixtape Wave[s], has that romantic feel, that Lupe nod (“Have a dream in New Orleans, fall in love in Chicago”), and that ’80s beat. Mick decided to play off that vintage vibe in these newly released visuals that seem to mix the decades with giant afros and giant cell phones. These days the Chicago MC is showing more creativity and personality in his videos. See for yourself in the clip below.

Mick Jenkins on Real Late with Peter Rosenberg

Mick Jenkins

Mick Jenkins is definitely picking up steam. While at a New York stop on his national tour, he stopped in on Real Late with Peter Rosenberg. When you watch this, you’ll learn some things you didn’t know about the Chi-town rapper, who generally keeps a pretty low profile. Among other things, he wants to have a one on one conversation with Andre 3000 and his favorite artist is Jill Scott. He also brought up his upcoming album and gave his thoughts on the Chicago music scene. Watch the full interview below.

Mick Jenkins is back in Texas with STWO next week. Get tickets to those show at the links below.

Mick Jenkins – Get Up Get Down [Video]

Get Up Get Down

One of the main differences between Mick Jenkins’ latest project Wave[s] and his previous mixtape The Water[s] is more upbeat tempos. “Get Up Get Down” is Exhibit A. Instead of Mick placing himself in the video, he places three kids in Adidas tracksuits freestyle dancing (impressively) throughout the city. You’ve got shots of the Willis Tower (aka the Sears Tower) and the “L” train in the background, showing off Mick Jenkins’ powerful hometown, but the focus is on the kids and their carefree fun. Move your body.

Mick Jenkins will be moving through Texas next month with STWO. You can get tickets to his shows at the links below.

Houston, TX – 9/14
Austin, TX – 9/15
Dallas, TX – 9/16
