After publishing 100 issues, the FADER released their first video cover story on JMBLYA alumnus and Chicago-based rapper Vic Mensa. The FADER team, including director Aaron Brown, spent a week with Mensa and the SAVEMONEY crew back in May. We see Mensa in the studio, freestyle rapping in the subway and crawling through the streets of Chicago. The 12-minute piece doesn't just give viewers a look into Vic Mensa as a rapper, but deconstructs the environment around him. The video includes a mix of shots that are home-video, VHS-style film and crisp scenes of the crew producing in the studio. FADER promises that this is the first of many short documentary features.
