In this historic achievement for the DC Rapper, Wale opens President Obama‘s last State Of The Union speech. People around the country tuned in to see our commander in chief and were treated to a live performance of Wale‘s “Chillin” and “LoveHateThing”. This is the first time a rapper as performed at a State Of The Union address. Armed with nothing more than a backup singer and his instrumental playing, Wale‘s charisma helped him win the crowd over. Wale’s performance versatility kept the show and energy going, as he finished off with “The White Shoes”. He also took a moment to announce his upcoming album, Shine. Wale is back with a new melodic and smooth slow jam, which has him singing for parts of this ballad. It would not be surprising to hear this one on the radio tomorrow, adding to Wale‘s other killer singles. “New Phone” is definite contender for a radio jam.
