He’s expected to release his first studio album, Traffic, sometime this fall. Until then, Mensa is not letting us forget that he’s been doing this.

Young Thug – Again (feat. Gucci Mane) [video]

Young Thug has given us a trap tribute to Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane with the release of his video “Again.” The video, co-directed by Thugger, is set in the “Trap God” exhibit created by Cam Kirk. It features images of Guwop in golden frames on the walls, while Young Thug raps with unreleased Gucci. The video is a true expression of Gucci Mane’s influence on other artists, especially in the South. Thug himself is expected to debut his upcoming album sometime this fall.

Artist To Watch — Post Malone [video]

postmalonePost Malone may not be a name you’re familiar with, but you should be. This Texas-native quickly found his way to popularity and a record deal in the months following the release of his single “White Iverson.” “White Iverson” is a smooth, but hard hitting track inspired by famed basketball player Allen Iverson. His recent deal with Republic Records is another mark of his snowballing success, and a debut album is expected soon. Although Post Malone has yet to hit the mainstream airwaves, the record deal shows that he’s not too far away. With his first music video already accumulating over a million views, we suggest that you get familiar with this artist soon, you’ll thank us later.

Chance The Rapper and Noname Gypsy — Israel

chance

It seems like it was just yesterday that Chance released his Based Freestyle mixtape with Lil’ B, and he is already blessing us with a new song featuring biblical quality lyricism. In this collaboration with Noname Gypsy, the two artists spit honest bars over a smooth simple beat. This track feels more like a spoken word poetry reading than a rap song, but that’s a good thing. Take a listen.

CASEY VEGGIES — ANYBODY

caseyv

Casey Veggies released another track before his upcoming album Live & Grow, set to come out Sept. 25. Following his last release “Organic Freestyle,” “Anybody” features Casey taking command of a solid, slightly funky beat produced by Sap. Whether or not this track is on the upcoming album, it certainly gets fans pumped for the album’s release and shows that Casey Veggies might be more than just anybody.

Kendrick Lamar Throws Shade at Drake on Compton Album

drakevskendrick

Dr. Dre’s new album Compton has everyone talking, but not necessarily about the Doctor. Actually, everyone seems more preoccupied with some suspected shade coming from Kendrick Lamar in his features on Dre’s album. The recipient of that shade? None other than Drake.

The lyrics from two songs on the album suggest that Meek Mill isn’t the only one taking some shots at Jimmy.

On “Darkside/Gone” Kendrick raps:

“You scared of my heist now/But still I got enemies giving me energy/I wanna fight now/Subliminals sending me all of this hate/I thought I was holding the mic down”

And on “Deep Water” he raps:

“They liable to bury him/They nominated six to carry him/They worry him to death but he no vegetarian/The beef is on his breath inheritin’ the drama like better than a Great White/Nigga, this is life in my aquarium!”

Lamar’s use of the words energy and the six reference songs on Drake’s If Your Reading This It’s Too Late. Drizzy has yet to drop any diss tracks or even show signs of noticing the shade. We’ll have to wait and see how this beef stews.

Outside of the drama, the album is as lit as expected. You can purchase Compton here and listen for yourself.

Nicki Minaj Gets Her Own Video Game

Nicki-Minaj-Mario-Video-Game-640x427

Sometimes the universe gives us things we don’t even know we need. In this case, the universe said Nicki Minaj needs a video game — and it’s right. Glu, the creators of Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, announced that they are working to make a game based on the Queen of Rap herself. The game is currently expected to release sometime in 2016.

We can only hope that the game includes some of the superstar’s everyday tasks, like dealing with boy beef, deciding which wig to purchase and starting a fragrance line. The game should be as wonderful as Kim K’s, if not even better. Read more details about the game here.
