Logic Texas Run Review – (Photos from Houston & San Antonio)

Less than a year ago, Logic hit Texas and there might have been 150 people in the room – the OG fans, those that have been fans since the mixtape days. Since then, he dropped his debut album, Under Pressure, which sold 73,000 copies it’s first week and 93,000+ to date, allowing for him to continue to grow his fan base – or as he calls them, the RattPack – to an unbelievable level. That’s why the same room he played in Austin last time, Emo’s, sold over 1,500 more tickets this time. He sold out Houston, Dallas, Austin AND San Antonio – all days in advance. Here are some of the reasons why:

Logic knows how to connect with his fans. During his Dallas show a few days ago, someone in the crowd had a seizure. RIGHT as Logic got off the stage, he found out what hospital the fan had been admitted to and went directly there to check on him and hang out. During the meet and greet before his Austin show, a fan was wearing a “Rap with Logic or Die Trying” t-shirt. Logic told him he wouldn’t be able to get on stage just by wearing the t-shirt, but after a few songs, Logic noticed the fan, ten or so rows back, rapping every word and invited him up on stage.

“I’m gonna be your hype man,” Logic said and what went down next was truly amazing, a dream for any hip-hop head – the kid knew every word, bringing the house down with a surprisingly solid stage presence.

While Logic’s album was still being produced, he was trying to get a sample from Vanilla Sky cleared – one of Penelope Cruz’s lines from the film. When he tried to get in touch with her and her people, she was off in Spain and couldn’t be reached, according to Logic. Instead of dropping the idea for the song, Logic remembered a fan from Austin that he met during his previous visit, who had a beautiful Columbian accent, and requested that she come record Cruz’s line so he could avoid having to clear the sample. Logic pointed her out during his show last night in Austin and told the aforementioned story.

He also spent a portion of his show pointing out fans in the crowd, asking them their names, ages, where they were from and personally thanking them for coming to the show and for being fans.

It’s not everyday that you see things like this in the world of live music or music in general. Logic is a genuine human being who knows the value of personally connecting with the people who support him. He is a breath of fresh air and we hope he continues to see all the success he deserves.

Thanks to everyone who came to the shows this time around. It was truly an incredible experience and we’re glad you could all be a part of it with us. See below for more photos from the Houston and San Antonio dates and we’ll see y’all next time Logic comes through.
