The Internet — The Ego Death Tour — Four Texas Shows

the-internet-ego-death

In December of 2011, The Internet blessed R&B with other-worldly music in their debut album Purple Naked Ladies. Since then, Odd Future alumni Syd the Kyd and Matt Martians have been giving us soulful sounds with members Patrick Paige, Christopher Smith and Jameel Bruner. The Internet’s headlining tour follows the release of their third studio album Ego Death. Leading up to the album release, The Internet teased fans by releasing the singles “Girl” and “Special Affair,” both featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Syd to accompany beautifully orchestrated instrumentals. Their four Texas stops will include opening performances from Moonchild, St. Beauty and other artists that compliment the celestial sounds of The Internet — like Milky Wayv featuring Bobby Earth from Houston.

Grab your tickets for one of the upcoming shows below, and stream The Internet if your ears have yet to be blessed by their etherial sounds. You can purchase Ego Death on iTunes.

Mick Jenkins – Get Up Get Down [Video]

Get Up Get Down

One of the main differences between Mick Jenkins’ latest project Wave[s] and his previous mixtape The Water[s] is more upbeat tempos. “Get Up Get Down” is Exhibit A. Instead of Mick placing himself in the video, he places three kids in Adidas tracksuits freestyle dancing (impressively) throughout the city. You’ve got shots of the Willis Tower (aka the Sears Tower) and the “L” train in the background, showing off Mick Jenkins’ powerful hometown, but the focus is on the kids and their carefree fun. Move your body.

Mick Jenkins will be moving through Texas next month with STWO. You can get tickets to his shows at the links below.

He is embarking on a U.S. tour this fall, stopping in Dallas on November 7 with The-Dream, and you can get a preview of that show with MudMo’s recent trip to Maida Vale Studios where he played with his live band for Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. Miguel – Wildheart Tour Kicks Off in Texas

A_2 copy 3_GW

This past weekend, Miguel kicked off his Wildheart Tour in Texas, supporting his wildly anticipated third release of the same name. Wildheart is a fresh take on R&B, blending elements of psychedelia and the inexplicable new sound that many are dubbing “future-soul” to create a unique project that can be jammed during more activities than just the horizontal tango. Miguel kicked the tour off in Austin on Friday, July 24 at Emo’s before moving onto Dallas at South Side Ball Room and Houston at Warehouse Live, all the while performing with his incredible live band. Also, female blues-rocker/singer Dorothy opened for each date. Check out the photos from the Miguel Texas shows, including a sold out Houston show, below:

Miguel – Wildheart (Buy & Stream) + Jimmy Kimmel & GMA Performances

640

Today, Miguel released Wildheart, his third studio album and first full release in almost three years. The album features Miguel crooning over beautiful production, much of which is unorthodox in terms of the typical R&B you hear encapsulating the Top 40 these days. Miguel has a sound of his own and with a full band to accompany him on his Wildheart Tour hitting Texas next month, we know this is going to be an amazing experience for music lovers of all different kinds. Check out his performance on Jimmy Kimmel last night (below) and Good Morning America this morning plus a review of the album by the New York Times. You can also grab tickets below, stream the album here or here and buy the regular album and deluxe album as well on iTunes.

1 AC SHLO 1 copy

Shlohmo is one of the most creative and unique artists currently creating music. Last weekend he packed out three shows in Austin, Houston and Dallas, bringing along Nick Melons and Purple for opener duties, neither of which disappointed, completely holding their own by putting on very amazing sets of their own. If you haven’t listened to Shlohmo’s most recent release, Dark Red, that he dropped this past Friday, stream it here or buy it here. Check photos from each of the three artists from this past weekend below.

Talib Kweli & Immortal Technique's Texas Run – Photos (30)

1FM TECH 4 copy

The hip-hop legends Immortal Technique and Talib Kweli are currently on tour as The People’s Champions. Stopping through Dallas and Houston together along with Tech playing two solo shows in Austin and San Antonio, the shows were nothing short of non-stop incredible moments with both artists spitting truth in their rhymes, only stopping to speak further realness to the crowd. Each evening also featured opening sets from Chino XL, CF, Hasan Salaam – hosted by Poison Pen – and NIKO IS on each Talib date. Check out more photos below. We look forward to getting these amazing artists back to Texas as soon as possible.
