As artists often do during the week of an album release, J. Cole performed on Late Show with David Letterman this week. However, Cole threw us all a curveball when he performed a song that didn’t even make the album. The performance of “Be Free” was very much a political statement, particularly with recent events in Ferguson, New York and all around the country. J. Cole has also been spotted participating in the protests going on in solidarity with those against police brutality. Much respect.
